October is Pet Wellness Month. As a pet owner, you do everything possible to keep your pup safe and healthy. At The Good Dog Spot, we want to be part of what makes that happen. So how can you continue to ensure your pup thrives and remains healthy along the way? Here are several steps you can take in honor of Pet Wellness Month – and all the time!
Socialization
Like humans, pets need to socialize to be healthy. Socialization is a vital component of keeping your dog emotionally and physically fit. If you want your pup to be happy and confident around other dogs and animals, incorporate regular socialization into your routine. There are many ways to do this, but the best option is to take advantage of Dog Daycare programs at the Good Dog Spot. Along with socialization skills, your dog will enjoy hours of fun and play with our team and their new friends!
Grooming and Pet Wellness
Establishing a consistent grooming routine is another component of keeping your dog healthy and safe. A grooming schedule allows you to control your dog’s shedding, prevent matting, and be aware of any potential medical concerns. Learn more here if you want to set up a grooming schedule with us at The Good Dog Spot.
Spend Quality Time with Your Pet
Another essential way to boost your dog’s health during pet wellness month and beyond is by spending quality time with them. Quality time with your dog improves your relationship and builds their trust in you. Head out on a hike or attend a training class with your pet. Relaxing and giving lots of snuggles builds the relationship with your pup as well.
Build Their Confidence
What’s one way to give your dog a special sense of accomplishment? Build their confidence! A simple way to do this is by teaching them a new trick or game during playtime. We do this at The Good Dog Spot with our Trick of the Month Club. Each month, we teach and train a new trick to our dogs. They can practice at home and build confidence along the way, which results in one happy pup! This Pet Wellness Month, ask about the Trick of the Month club and how it can help your dog build their confidence.
Feed Your Pet a Healthy Diet
Diet is an essential part of getting and keeping your dog healthy. A proper diet gives your dog the energy to keep up with all of its daily activities, including learning new tricks and spending time with friends. The components of a healthy diet for dogs are good sources of protein from fresh, whole ingredients. Unfortunately, many common ingredients for pets are shelf stable and include hard-to-pronounce ingredients, which means they are not the best for their health.
If possible, feed your dog food that has antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties as well as protein for bone and muscle growth. You are bound to notice the difference that changing your pup’s diet can make – even if it initially seems subtle. Since a healthy diet is so important, it’s one of the core ways you can promote your dog’s well-being during Pet Wellness month and beyond. Ask one of our team members about our food recommendations the next time you stop by.
