Luna first started coming to us as a young puppy back in December of 2023. Since then, she has been a regular guest for boarding and day boarding stays, and a few months ago she began participating in our Enhanced Daycare Program. In Luna’s earlier days with us, she struggled with significant reactivity. Staff often had to hang curtains on her suite to help reduce visual triggers from other dogs, and she also showed signs of resource guarding the space she was in. Because she remained unspayed for some time due to her breed, Luna was unable to socialize with other dogs, which unfortunately caused her reactivity to increase. For a long while, we weren’t sure if Luna would ever be comfortable being around other dogs.
That began to change once she started in our Enhanced Daycare Program. We took things slow, focusing on structured walks around Northampton, treat puzzles, outdoor playtime, and agility courses. Luna truly enjoyed the one-on-one attention, though over time she began to show signs of boredom. Our daycare manager recognized how much progress Luna had made—especially after she was spayed—and felt she was ready to begin carefully structured dog introductions. We started slowly, pairing Luna with calm, neutral dogs that we knew would be polite and appropriate. Luna immediately showed interest and excitement being around other dogs, and it was clear she was ready for this next step. Today, Luna has many friends and happily plays both indoors and outdoors with her canine companions. Luna is now the biggest love bug and is absolutely adored by all of our staff.
