As a dog lover, wanting your pup to thrive both physically and emotionally is so important. While physical health determines much of your dog’s wellbeing, emotional and social factors play a big role as well. For this reason, teaching your dog social etiquette expands their skill sets, abilities, and overall satisfaction.
SOCIAL SKILLS WITH OTHER DOGS
One of the biggest benefits of dog daycare is the socialization aspect. Although dogs can gain social skills outside of dog daycare, there is something unique and special about having a safe space to do so. At the Good Dog Spot, one of our main goals is to teach your pup how to socialize with a variety of different breeds. This is always done under the safety and supervision of our knowledgeable staff. In addition to teaching your dog how to interact with other pups, we also help gauge their interest and temperament and group them accordingly to avoid any potential confrontations. We want everyone at The Good Dog Spot to develop friendships, grow in social skills, and most of all, have fun.
SAFE PLAY AREAS
Like humans, dogs need a safe space to learn and develop new skills. This is especially true when introducing a pup to a new environment. Even if your dog is comfortable around other animals, they still need a safe place to run and play. This is why designated safe spaces are so important and a unique benefit of dog daycare. Some programs, like ours, offer activities and environments to foster your dog’s growth and development. Proper and safe spaces also allow us to group together dogs of different sizes and temperaments. Whether it’s exercise, group activities or teaching social skills, a safe environment is necessary.
ETIQUETTE CUES
Beyond socialization between dogs, teaching your dog proper etiquette with humans and other situations is important. Our Dog Daycare program seeks to build on the training you do at home as well as introducing new concepts. For many dogs, these skills are learned through a combination of exposure and designated training programs. Different breeds and personalities affect their preferences and/or inclination towards one type of method over another. The staff at The Good Dog Spot are highly equipped and comfortable with all dog breeds and can assess both potential troubling situations and areas of growth. All expectations set within etiquette and socialization training are framed within a narrative of play during dog daycare. We ensure your pup not only learns and grows in social skills during dog daycare, but has a great time doing it!
